The following is a list of links to Internet sites that provide information on Low Impact Development (LID). LID is a more sustainable land development technique that includes a site design approach to preserve natural resources, terrain, and hydrology, combined with a natural approach to stormwater best management practices that store, infiltrate, evaporate, and detain runoff. LID preserves open space, protects conservation vales on the site, ensures adequate groundwater recharge, and reduces runoff pollution. Urban LID practices can reduce heat island impact, smog, and energy use, and lessen the cost of new and repair of existing CSO stormwater systems.

This manual was created by the Department of Defense (DoD) United Facilities Criteria (UFC). Low-Impact Development Urban Design Tools
This site, developed through a Cooperative Assistance Agreement under the US EPA Office of Water, provides watershed managers with a new set of tools and techniques that can be used to meet regulatory and receiving water program goals for urban retrofits, redevelopment projects, and new development sites. It features an interactive design page for a range of LID techniques and land uses.
